REGIONAL
PUBLIC SAFETY RADIO COMMUNICATIONS GOVERNANCE |
|
| Business Challenge | Implementation
of a shared 800 MHz digital, trunked radio system impacting public service
and public safety radio users as well as some private organizations and
federal agencies across a 9-county metropolitan area created the following
challenges: To educate radio users, whether they move onto the 800 MHz system or remain on their current VHF/UHF or analog systems regarding how they will be impacted by the new system. Quickly develop protocols, procedures, policies and standards for radio use in the new environment while ensuring that the needs and perspectives of participating and non-participating agencies and entities are represented so that they can use them as the basis for developing internal policies, procedures and initial configuration of their systems and radios. |
|
| Project Focus | Bring
together public service and public safety radio user stakeholders throughout
a metropolitan area to develop the protocols, policies, procedures and standards
by which the participation on and interoperability with the new regional
800 MHz digital trunked public safety radio system will be managed. |
